The DKI Jakarta area is still in the first position of national Covid-19 cases. The status of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the DKI Jakarta area was updated on June 2, 2020, as many as 7,541 cases. An appeal from the World Health Organization (WHO) that the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be lost from the earth. Therefore, WHO recommends that we must face and co-exist with COVID-19 with the term new normal . Countries that can implement a new life order are countries that have been able to control the spread of COVID-19.
5 Challenges in Implementing the New Normal in DKI Jakarta
The increasing number of Covid-19 cases in DKI Jakarta every day is a challenge for the implementation of the new order of life. However, the DKI Jakarta area, which is the center of the Indonesian economy and government, must be able to control the COVID-19 pandemic. The following are some of the challenges that DKI Jakarta must face:
1. New Normal – Confirmed Covid-19 Cases Are Still High Every Day
The number of positive patients that continues to increase makes the discourse of a new life order increasingly challenging. This challenge is a real challenge that must be faced not only by the Government but also by the community. Moreover, this very high number triggers medical personnel to fight tirelessly. The discourse of implementing a new life order has made physical distancing even more attention. Therefore, public transportation as a vehicle used by the wider community needs to be added as well. If the distance between passengers is very concerned, the public transportation fleet needs to be added. But in reality public transportation is not added because it requires a lot of budget. Another solution to deal with the new normal is to add security officers in public transportation.
3. Many Have Not Followed Health Protocols
The implementation of health protocols that have not been maximized in DKI Jakarta is the next challenge. Many people do not understand the importance of following health protocols. Poor people ignore health protocols to work and earn money. As a result, many people still make crowds and do not neglect to maintain physical distance from one person to another.
4. The Covid-19 Vaccine Has Not Been Found
Countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are conducting research to make a vaccine. Research was conducted to stop the spread of this virus. However, until now a vaccine has not been found, so this is the umpteenth challenge for the discourse of implementing a new life order. Especially with the emergence of people affected by COVID-19 without symptoms, it is increasingly difficult to detect from the start. This condition makes the implementation of a new life in DKI Jakarta should be considered further.
5. An Economy That Must Keep Running
Economic problems are a never ending problem. Difficulties in terms of the economy can have an impact on many things. This impact can be seen from the increasing number of crime rates in DKI Jakarta. Termination of work from the company due to termination of work activities makes the community more economically difficult. Moreover, as we know that the people of DKI Jakarta are mostly immigrants. This is where the dilemma is, if the new order is not put into effect immediately, the economy will continue to stall.
